We are excited to share an amazing new promotion at Riverside Counseling. We are now offering FREE initial consultations for new, out-of-pocket clients hoping to pursue individual, couples, and/or family counseling. If you are interested in counseling but are hesitant to make a long-term commitment, this promotion is a great way to get your toe in the water! Call now to schedule the FREE intake session.
Free initial sessions will be provided by our graduate interns and experienced residents. They will then work with you to find the perfect therapist to fit your needs. Our licensed counselors charge $125.00 per hour long session, while residents and interns charge only $65.00 and $45.00 respectfully. Our residents and interns provide excellent care under the close supervision of licensed counselors. Please get to know them below!
Kim Rudat, Resident in Counseling
Kim is a resident in counseling and holds an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. She has supervised clinical experience in couples counseling, specifically including premarital matters, high-conflict relationships, separating and divorcing individuals/couples, and blended family challenges.
Her areas of focus include helping clients develop effective means of communication, and breaking through any behavioral impasse toward relationship satisfaction, hope, and lasting change. Additionally, she welcomes children struggling to understand and cope with emotions associated with parental divorce.
Laura Wyatt, Graduate Student Intern
Laura is a graduate student pursuing her M.Ed. for School Counseling from Liberty University. She is currently serving as an intern at Riverside Counseling on the Side, and is excited to meet new clients and utilize the knowledge and experience that she has gained thus far from her program. As a future School Counselor, Laura specializes in counseling children and adolescents of all ages and at differing developmental stages.
She has experience working with children with diverse needs and backgrounds, and genuinely believes that counseling can be both fun and advantageous for young clients. She is excited to participate in both individual and group counseling sessions, and to perform the FREE initial intake sessions for new clients.
Laura has a B.A. in Political Science from James Madison University, where she double minored in Spanish and Asian Studies. She enjoys spending time with her husband (who is also her high school sweetheart), binge watching shows on Netflix, and spoiling her three-year-old golden retriever.
Arlete Jones, Graduate Student Intern
Arlete is currently working on her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling at Liberty University. She is an intern under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Her experience includes volunteering and interning at different organizations and private practices providing children and adult individual counseling, facilitating parenting classes, and co-facilitating children’s therapy group. A bilingual providing counseling in Portuguese and English, she has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and enjoys working with a variety of clients including children and adults.
She believes that counseling should be a safe and welcoming experience that allows clients to feel motivated to grow and achieve overall emotional health. Arlete strives to provide supportive and collaborative work with clients to build strengths and positive changes.
